Houston Zoo Centennial Celebration
In 1922, the City of Houston built a fence around a tract of land in Hermann Park to house a bison, named Earl, and an eclectic collection of other animals. In April of that year with the announcement from then mayor, Oscar Holcombe, the space was opened to the public and the Houston Zoo was born. Over the years, this small tract of land grew to become the 55-acre zoo it is today. In 2022, the Houston Zoo celebrated it’s 100th birthday with year-long festivities, including a “Houston Zoo-Day” proclamation from mayor, Sylvester Turner.
The Houston Zoo in-house design team developed the event branding, which included all print and digital marketing elements, event collateral, signage, souvenir items, staff uniforms, a 200-ft long historic timeline, a commemorative keepsake book, and more.
